A HAPPENING

Finally, it has happened. My e-book, An Evening With Me, is now available in LIVE or Glassbook form and can be purchased at:

http://www.eloquentbooks.com:80/AnEveningWithMe.html

I am excited and hope you will be excited also. If you like the few poems on the site, here is your opportunity to read the whole collection. Although most of them are love poems, a few are about some of my other favorite subjects. I believe they can add other dimensions for your entertainment. I will try my hand at video taping me reading some of the poems soon and want your thoughts on that.

I appreciate your support and comments on the blog, so keep them coming

This has truly been an exciting adventure for me and I would recommend all of you trying out your own writing or whatever form your artistry manifest. I am enclosing another freebie poem today. Enjoy!!

BEING

An eternity passed, by damn
Before I learned to say
I am
And when I found
What I wanted to be
There went another eternity
By the time these words
To action turned
Another lifetime needed, I yearned
And though these actions have
Become true
Another being starts anew
Over and over again
I start once more
Going ahead to where I must
Have been before.
Will it ever end?
I ask and know
That being is continuous
And where I am
I have been and will go

My brother Ed has been writing a musical about Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. He delves into and writes about the  womanizing of Babe while his wife loves him and tolerates it for as long as she can .  I have written this poem to describe some of the feelings in a relationship where one person loves another who not only does not  appreciate that love, but seeks love elsewhere.

FROM THE LOVER

Love becomes a different song
The feelings I have for you,
Even when I know you’re wrong.
Your deepest love, you hide.
Never expressed, nor shown to me
Overshadowed by your pride.

Love becomes for you a different story
Filled by whoever gazes in your eyes,
One born of all your glory.
Looking and touching who is near
No matter whose heart you break,
Especially mine, whose love is dear.

Love for me has a different meaning.
To give myself only to you and
To no one else am I ever leaning.
All around you must be adoring,
Yearning for your special presence
While from me your love is soaring

FROM  THE BELOVED

Love becomes a different song.
The feelings I have for you,
Even when I know I do wrong.
My deepest love, I hide.
Never expressed, nor shown to you.
Overshadowed by my pride.

Love becomes for me a different story,
Filled by whoever gazes in my eyes.
One born of all my glory.
Looking and touching who is near,
No matter whose heart I break,
Especially yours, whose love is dear.

Love from me has a different meaning.
To give myself not only to you
And on whomever else am I leaning.
All around me must be adoring,
Yearning for my special presence.
While from me, my love is roaring.

AN EVENING WITH ME
Songs for Lovers
By
Gene Di Vita, M.D.
This book of poetry will soon be published as an e book by Eloquent Books. Look for further iinformation on this post. I am enclosing the preface to the book to introduce you to the love songs and other poems you may enjoy alone or share with your lover.
PREFACE

Being a physician who has practiced psychiatry for over forty years, I have been privileged to hear about the love stories of many people as well as living my own tales, so I began to write the following poems and shared a few with loved ones. I have recently retired and am pursuing a lingering passion for writing. Now, I have revisited these and want them available to all those entering the wonderful, risky world of love.Love is a very desired and sought after experience without one knowing the full range of emotions that accompany it. In the midst of love are euphoria, excitement, passion, and constantly wanting to be in the presence of your lover. However, there is much angst, fear, threats of loss, separation, and abandonment coinciding with the exhilaration. The question arises: “Is the ecstasy of falling in love worth the ever-present risk of the despair of losing the love?” Most do not consider the question at the onset and proceed to fall in love. Only after lost love does one question this risk of falling in love again. Many lovers get stuck on this question and never resume. Others continue to pursue the elusive love, but more tenuously, while some brave hearts leap again and again into that unknown abyss that always welcomes.
Most of my work has been with the aftermath of losing loved ones through death, divorce, falling out of love, love moving on to other people, and mostly unknown reason regarding how loss of love or change of heart comes about. These love poems and stories attempt to express the wonders of love along with the risk so that lovers may identify and understand their experiences in the world of love. By no means is this the total picture of love nor will it be identical to your love song, as love is similar and different, universal and individual.

Hopefully, lovers will read these songs to themselves and to their lovers which can enhance their own experiences of intimacy and open explorations for more wonderful moments of sharing your love.

DEMENTIA

An electric razor with no cord
Click the remote cause I’m bored
Am I losing my mind or am I sane
Is it TV, life, or just a game
No friends come to see me any more
Was I a lover or you a whore
Can you hear only what I don’t say
After all, I’m not here anyway

Cut the hair from my ears
Can I have a few beers
Wipe the dribble from my mouth
Keep my movement from going south
Don’t move me to tier three
Cause I don’t know when I pee
Just clean me up a bit
After all, I’m more than just my shit

Get my walker with the wheels
Is it my ass that just squeals
Take my pecker out to play
Don’t know if it’s night or day
Why do I have to take those pills
Can’t stand those same old meals
Don’t know how to laugh or cry
After all, can I remember how to die
